Biography

Markus Horn (*1972) studied piano with a focus on jazz/pop in Amsterdam (NL) as well as at the Hannover University for Music and Drama. He received highest awards and prizes in several competitions. Concerts in most varied instrumentations took him all over Germany, to Switzerland, Italy, USA, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Spain, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Chile.

He performed on the radio for the Hessischer Rundfunk and Norddeutscher Rundfunk and on TV for ZDF, RTL, RTL II and Hessen Fernsehen. Furthermore, he contributed to numerous CD-productions and worked with many well-known jazz and pop artists.

Since 2004 Markus Horn is lecturer for jazz piano at the Hannover University for Music and Drama. Successful performances of Fritz Lang's silent film masterpiece "Metropolis" with his new score took place at the "Teaneck International Film Festival" (New Jersey, USA), the "Sofia International Film Festival (Sofia, Bulgary), the “San Luis Obispo International Film Festival” (California, USA), “Stage 7 Recital Hall” (Seattle, USA) , the "Societa del Giardino" (Milan, Italy) and the "Centro Cultural" in Santiago de Chile (among others).

"Nosferatu" successfully premiered at the 2015 "Teaneck International Film Festival" (USA), followed by performances in New York, Berkeley, San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, Villa Aurora (Los Angeles), Germany (Altmarkfestspiele) and Turkey (Izmir International Jazz Festival).
